Born in Albemarle County on Feb. 17, 1930, he was the son of the late John Lewis and Mary Woodson Gibson. He was the husband of Mrs. Jean Gilbert Gibson.
A farmer, Mr. Gibson served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, George A., Hiram D., Ray A. and Carl W. Gibson of Charlottesville; a daughter, Miss Doris M. Gibson of Charlottesville; three brothers, William L., Henry F. and Morris F. Gibson of Charlottesville; and two sisters, Mrs. Florence Fisher of Edgewater, Md., and Mrs. Annie Woodson of North Garden.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Preddy-Teague Funeral chapel, with burial in Rockgate Cemetery at Crozet.
