It was six years before the first child was born to Andrew and Margaret, but then their home filled up fast. In the early 1880's, Andrew added a niece and nephew. By then, John had married and was living in Manchester.
John married Annie O'Malley from Manchester. The couple had at least three children, two in Lanchashire. John started out as a coal miner, but became interested in the law. He served as a policeman, then as a railway detective in Staffordshire and Cumberland. He returned to Manchester where he became a hotel manager.
He died there about 1915.
