She was born in 1904 to Charles and Emma (Smith) Parmenter on their farm near Ashland, Neb. In 1919, she moved with her parents to a farm in the Sunflower Community east of Mitchell. She graduated as Valedictorian of the class of 1923. After graduation she taught at Banner County School District #2.
Hazel Belle Parmenter married Roy Edward Kronberg on Aug. 3, 1925. They farmed north and west of Scottsbluff until his sudden death of a heart attack in 1956. Her kind neighbors and relatives helped her with the harvest that fall and she then moved to Scottsbluff. She attended Scottsbluff Jr. College and Chadron State College. She taught school at the rural schools, Victory Hill, Fairview 50, and Lake Minatare, retiring at the age of 70. She then served as a Foster Grandmother at the Westmoor School in Scottsbluff until the age of 85.
She was a member of the First Christian Church from theage of 13. She was a member of the Scottsbluff Rebekah Lodge and served as Noble Grand in 1966. She was a member of the Scottsbluff Business and Professional Womens Club and 3-J Project Club.
She was named Scotts Bluff County Mother of the Year by the Eagles Lodge in 1975 and also "Queen for the Day" by the Scottsbluff Chamber of Commerce in 1987.
Hazel loved all the children she taught and enjoyed being a teacher. She especially enjoyed her garden, flowers and all her many friends who came to visit her.
