Irene Fox Gillooly, 80 of Murphysboro, died Wednesday, January 24, 1989 at 2:30pm in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.

Pettett Funeral Home Murphysboro, was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Services were held on Saturday, Jan 29 at the funeral home. Rev. John Annable of United Methodist Church in Murphysboro officiated. She was a member of the church congregation.

Burial was in Dutch Ridge Cemetery in Pomona, IL.

She was born Sept. 18, 1908 in Jackson County, daughter of Charles William and Elizabeth Hayton Fox.

She married Thomas Arthur Gillooly in Murphysboro, Jan 8, 1960. He preceded her in death Dec. 4, 1962.

Mrs. Gillooly was a former, longtime employee of Brown Shoe Company in Murphysboro.

She held memberships in the following Murphysboro orginications; St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, Murphysboro Senion Citizens, American Legion Post 127 Auxiliary, and V.F.W. post 7190 Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sisters; Zelma Mileur of Murphysboro and Elizabeth Brinegar of Mr. Olive, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her first husband, Bob Kennedy; one siser, Mrs. William (Aurora) Jackson and three brothers, including Henry Fox and two infant brothers.
