NEWPORT NEWS - Lynn Edward LeHew, 95, died Aug. 8, 2005. He was born and raised in Luray and the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. He married Dorothy Baxter in 1936 and relocated to Newport News in 1938, where he resided until his death. He worked with the National Geological Survey in his youth, which included surveying a road which later became Skyline Drive. He performed survey work all along the East Coast, from Maine to Florida. The majority of Lynn's career was devoted to the insurance business, retiring at age 70. He was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men. He was also active in the local Kiwanis Club and was formerly active in the Masonic Lodge. He was recently preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy. He is proudly survived by his daughters, Carolynn LeHew Leccese of Rochester, N.Y., and Jane LeHew Johnson and her husband, Ronnie, of Newport News; his sister, Hazel Emerson of Luray; his grandchildren, Dana Leccese, Anthony Lynn Leccese and his wife, Debbie, Andrew Leccese and Mason Johnson and his wife, Shannon; his great-granddaughter, Sofia Leccese; and extended family. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, in Riverside-Altmeyer Funeral Home, 7415 River Road, Newport News. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, in Riverside-Altmeyer Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Sam McPhail with burial following in Peninsula Memorial Park.
