Daughter of Hugh Elmo and Vallie (Ellis) Smith. She was valedictorian of her high school, and afterward worked for First Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, OK. She moved to Dallas and met and married Vester Harvey Scarbrough on January 21, 1949. She continued to work and started her own accounting business. They were married for over thirty years. They were both frugal and generous and loved their nephews and nieces. They were the first to jump up to play games, whether it was a game of tennis or a game of dominoes, and enjoyed showing Dallas to their visiting relatives.

After Harvey died, one of her accounting clients introduced Jane to her son, and they married September 12, 1987. They had many years together before Jane was found to have cancer of the jaw. After several surgeries and cancer treatments, she was almost a year of being cancer free when she died from a major stroke.

This memorial is maintained by a relative of the deceased.
