Death of Greatly Beloved EastonWoman August 16, 1927
Mrs. Elizabeth Graham Ladner died August 16, at 2:00 A.M. She had been in poor health for several months, and confined to her bed the greater part of the time for six weeks. Mrs. Ladner was born at River de Chute, N. B., January 15, 1850. She was the daughter of James Graham and Kathryn McCrea. June 13, 1874, she was married to Jacob C. Ladner, and settled on the farm where they spent the remainder of their years Mr. Ladner died April 16, 1926.
Eight children were born to them: Arthur E., Anacortes, Wash.; Banford W., Easton; Mrs. Sherman Duncan, Fort Fairfield; James C., Easton; Adonis H., deceased; Archie A., Easton; Mrs. Horace Smith, deceased, and Mrs. Alfred Kinney, Easton. The youngest son Archie has always lived on the homestead with the parents. She also leaves to mourn one brother, John Graham of River de Chute, N. B.; three sisters, Mrs. Gilbert Cheney, Lindsay, N. B.; Mrs. Ella Sawyer, Fergus Falls, Minn., Mrs. Mary Dow, Santa Rosa, California; 22 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The funeral was held Thursday at 2:00 P.M. in the Union church, in charge of D. W. Dorsey of Fort Fairfield. Rev. L.A. Farrar officiated. The pall-bearers were : Herbert Gordon, Walter and Arthur Graham, nephews of the deceased. Three selections were nicely sung by mrs. J. N. Porter, Mrs. M. W. Wright, Charles Flewelling, Sr., and David Crabtree, accompanied by Mrs. Walter Curtis. The floral offerings were very beautiful.
The many relatives and friends in attendance at the funeral showed the esteem in which the deceased was held by those who knew her. All of her children, with their families, were present at the funeral except Arthur, who has not been home for 28 years. Other relatives present were Mr. and Mrs. John Graham and sons Walter and Arthur, River de Chute, N. B.; Mrs. Gilbert Cheney, a sister, and husband and son Arthur, Lindsay, N. B.; Mrs. Edwin Carter, a niece, Richmond, N. B.; Gordon Graham, a nephew, and wife, Perth, N. B.; Mrs. Annie Graham, a sister-in-law, of Presque Isle; Mrs. Annie Fuller, a sister-in-law, Washburn; Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Smith, Blaine.L. L.
