Death of Aged Easton Man April 16 ---Funeral 18

Jacob C. Ladner of River de Chute, Easton died Friday night, April 16, at 6:00 o'clock, aged nearly 79 years. He had been in failing health for several weeks, but was confined to his bed only two days.
Mr. Ladner was born in Prince Edward Island, August 28 1847. He was the oldest son of George Ladner and Elizabeth Workman. There were 11children in his father's family, five boys and six girls. The surviving members are: Sapphire, Mrs. James Brooks, Skowhegan; Annie, Mrs. Edward Fuller,Easton; Eunice, Mrs. Hazen Huson, Skowhegan; George Ladner, Brooks.
Mr. Ladner came to Easton when he was 21 years of age, and soon began to clear the farm where he lived the remainder of his time. In June 1874, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Graham of River de Chute, N.B., who survives. To this union wasborn eight children: Arthur and James of Anacortes, Wash.; Banford and Archie, Easton; Emma, Mrs. J.S. Duncan, Fort Fairfield; Ella, Mrs. A. B. Kinney, Easton; Adonis who died when one year of age, and Fern, Mrs. Horace Smith, whodied 11 years ago. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren.
The funeral washeld Sunday afternoon, April 18, at 1:00 o'clock at the home, Rev. L. A. Farrer officiating. His text was Isaiah 64-6. A choir consisting of Mrs. Moody Wright, Mrs. J. N. Porter, Mrs. J. S. McBride, with Mrs. Walter Curtis as organist, sang "Face to Face." "The Eastern Gate" and "Shall We Gather at the River." The pall-bearers were two sons: Archie and Banford, two son-in-law, A. B. Kinney and H. F. Smith. Burial was made in the Ladner cemetery.
The out-of-town relatives to attend the funeral were: John and Arthur Graham and Mrs. Charles Lister of River de Chute, N. B.; Gordon Graham , Perth, N.B.; Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Smith, Blaine; Mrs. Tressa DePlant, Presque Isle; Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Duncan, Misses Hazel and Ivah Duncan, Cecil Duncan and Fayette Ladner, Fort Fairfield; Mrs. Annie Fuller, Presque Isle, and A. A. Flewelling, Pittsfield.
