Grandma Adams at Rest
Died at her late home four miles southeast of Valparaiso on Saturday, February 17, 1912, at the age of 72 years, eight months and 17 days. The funeral services were held at the Christian Church on Monday and the body was buried in the Valparaiso Cemetery. Nancy Jane Thompson was born in Pennsylvania on May 30, 1839. She was married to Thomas Adams on Aug. 17, 1862, at Geneva, Illinois. They came to Nebraska in 1871 and resided in the state ever since. Mr. and Mrs. Adams were numbered along with the pioneer residents of the state and were among those who helped to make this part of the state what it is today. Mr. Adams died a little more than two years ago and since that time Grandma lived on the farm with her adopted son Eddie Lowery. She was a faithful and consistent member of the Christian Church and when her health permitted was almost always at the services. She leaves to mourn her demise one brother, and one sister and six children, three sons and three daughters as follows: Everett W. of this place, Herbert R. of Cook, Mrs. Carrie E. Slocum of Iola, Kans., Mrs. Alice M Slocum of College View, Robert H. of Volmer, Idaho, and Mrs. Emily V. Cameron of Burr. All were present at the funeral obsequies, except the son who resides in Idaho. Mrs. Adams was a good woman, a fatithful wife and companion, and a devoted mother. Peace be to her sleeping dust.
