Mary (Geti) Igoe, 91, of Aurora, passed away in her sleep on September 8, 2007. A resident of Aurora her entire life, she was the fifth of seven children born to Albert and Louise Kroening. She was born on July 18, 1916 in Aurora. Throughout her life, she had a love for dancing to big-band music. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and retired in 1981. After retirement, Mary continued to sew all her own clothes and enjoyed her other talent of crocheting. She loved to decorate her house with every passing season and holiday. Mary also really enjoyed working in her yard and planting colorful flowers every year.
She is survived by her dedicated and loving daughter who cared for her for over 18 years, Joan Mary Pollard; son, Nicholas (Marilyn) Geti of Redding, Connecticut; grandchildren Stacy (Danny) Wright of Missouri, Roger Tweet of Wyoming, Stephanie (Cecil) Smoot of Arizona, David Searle of Oklahoma, and Sara (Mark) Isabella of Rhode Island; as well as seven great-grandchildren, Mariah, Kaila, Austin, Madison, Cecil III, Samantha and Meagan. She also enjoyed the companionship of her little dachschund friend, Cookie.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Nicholas Geti (1948), and John Igoe (1988); four sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery, IL with Rev. Clara Thompson officiating. The family will be receiving guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Park.
