Flanary Horton was born in Kentucky the son of Reese Duff Horton and Susan Cox of Carter Co., KY. He and his brother, James Knox Polk Horton Sr. moved to Wisconsin (along with numerous other Kentucky residents) for the timber industry. Flanary married Sarah J. Boggs the daughter of Vena Elizabeth Green and her first husband Nelson T. Boggs (who died at the Civil War battle of Middle Creek in KY). Vena Elizabeth Green went on to marry Flanary Hortons brother James Knox Polk Horton
One daughter was Mary Susan Horton (findagrave #7838276) who married Jasper William Roe, they are buried in the Roe Cemetery, Beauty Ridge, Greenup Co., KY.
