Union Civil War soldier Private Jacob Walsh (aka Jakob/Jacob Walch, born c. 1841) of Co. B, 149th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment, enlisted in Syracuse, Onondaga Co., New York, and died 27 October 1864 (interment record). He was originally buried in Atlanta. Today he lies buried in Section B, plot 1211, of Marietta National Cemetery (500 Washington Avenue, Marietta, Georgia 30060). His fellow soldier from Syracuse who served with him in Co. B., Corporal Jacob Grub, is in the same cemetery, in Section G, plot 6727. Marietta National Cemetery contains 10,132 Union Civil War soldiers, 3,093 of which are unknowns.
Alternative info claims Walsh/Walch enlisted 31 August 1862 at age 21, and died of disease at Atlanta, Georgia on 28 September 1864.
