William L. Adams passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 in Vacaville. He was 84.
"Bill" was born in Selma, Alabama, Nov. 17, 1923 to Julius and Cordelia Adams. He was the youngest of 10 children. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and then enlisted in the newly formed U.S. Air Force following the war. After his retirement from the military he went on to Civil Service and in 1991 retired giving nearly 50 years of service to his country.
Bill was an avid athlete who loved playing baseball, softball, bowling & golf. He won numerous trophies and awards. He was athletic director at Travis Air Force Base. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with friends and family. Bill was an honorable man. He was loving, kindhearted and always had a twinkle in his blue eyes. His presence will sorely be missed.
Bill is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rose; sons, Jon, Roger, Mark, Joseph, Dennis and Kevin as well as 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, six sisters and a daughter, Christine.
Funeral Services will be held, Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Vaca Hills Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial with full military honors will follow at the Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery.
