Thomas H. Bruce, a well known resident of Clay Center, died Saturday afernoon at 3:30 o'clock at the home of his brother, R. A. Bruce, one and a half miles east of this city. Mr. Bruce had been in ill health for some time but it was not known that his condition might be a serious one until he was taken from his rooms in Clay Center to the country home of his brother about a week ago. His death came as a surprise to his many friends in this community.
The deceased was born in the state of Kentucky and came to Clay county in an early days. He lived hereabouts for many years and at his death had attained the age of sixty-six years, seven months and seventeen days.
The funeral services were held Monday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, at the R.A. Bruce residence, conducted by Rev. Geo. F. Armington of the Congregation church. Burial was made at Greenwood cemetery.. Mr. and Mrs. Baldwin of Richmond, Kans. were among the out-of-town relatives who were here to atten the funeral services, Mrs. Baldwin being a sister of Mr. Bruce.
