John P. Hynes, Durand, Michigan, age 85, passed away at his home, 103 Fitch Street, Durand, Friday, October 4, 1940. The funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Monday October 7, 1940 from St. Mary's Church, Rev. Fr. Cassidy officiating. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Gaines. Remains will be at the residence. Services by the Martin Bros. Funeral Home.
Mr. Hynes was a long time farmer in Gaines Township, being well known and highly respected. He retired 23 years ago, at which time he and Mrs. Hynes removed into Durand and took up their residence. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Holy Name Society.
He is survied by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Sally Anne Rhode, of Grand Rapids; Mary Elizabeth Blust of East Tawas; three sons, Raymond, Carl and John Hynes, of Detroit. There are three sisters, Margaret Ann Cooney, of Durand; Katherine Hynes, of Gaines; Mary Elizabeth Eisentrager, of Swartz Creek.
