Gertrude Faulwetter Woetzel
Birth: Nov. 9, 1903, Germany
Death: Jul. 13, 2001, USA

Gertrude (Faulwetter) Woetzel, the daughter of Otto and Elly (Broeder) Faulwetter was born on November 9, 1903, in Germany. Gertrude attended school in Germany, and in 1926 immigrated to the United States. She was united in marriage to Richard Woetzel on December 21, 1926. Together they made their home in the Chicago area before moving to Ceder Mills and then Greenleaf, Minnesota. In 1937, they moved to Minneapolis, where they lived for one year before moving to a farm northwest of Dassel in October of 1938.
Gertrude was an independent woman who loved to be engaged in an intelligent discussion about politics or current events. She loved to spend time with her family, and her grandchildren were very important to her. She enjoyed taking a break from her day and could be found puzzling over a word search game or embroidering one of the many pillowcases, dishtowels, or tableclothes that she made for her family.
Gertrude is survived by her son's Helmuth of Litchfield, Conrad & (Carol) Woetzel of North St. Paul, Erhard & (Violet) Woetzel of Dassel, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Richard on May 13, 1976, her parents, and her 3 brothers, Willian, Erich, and Erhard.
Services were held for Gertrude at the Dassel, Minnesota Evangelical Covenant church on July 18, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating clergy were Rev Wallace Pratt and Rev Keith Carlson. Life story and reflections were given by her grandson Jerome Woetzel. Jerome's wife Sheryl also sang the song, "Where the Roses Never Fade." Also, sharing in music was Sheldon Hedin with, "How Great the Joy" (one of Gertrude's favorite songs) and "Glimpses of Glory." Eight of her nine grandson's were casket bearers: Bob Woetzel, Jon Woetzel, Matt Woetzel, Carl Woetzel, Ralph Woetzel, Jerome Woetzel, Randy Woetzel and Curtis Woetzel. Grandson Craig Woetzel of Florida was unable to attend. Also in attendance was Gertrude's only granddaughter, Suzanne Woetzel Erickson.
A very special thank you to Debbie for sponsoring my grandmother's memorial.
