Ruby M. Redford Liddell; January 22, 1924 - March 13, 2014

Written by youngest daughter, Patricia Franz.

How do you sum up the life of such a wonderful person in just a few short paragraphs? Mama was so many things. She was our mother and father. She was a wonderful friend, companion, and confident. Mama had just my sister and me, but she left a legacy that will go on forever.

She is the grandmother of 9, great grandmother of 17 and great-great grandmother of 18. Through no choice of her own, mama raised my sister and me alone. Among her many jobs she was a secretary/ bookkeeper, and accountant.

She was a temple worker for many years. She said this was her favorite job. She didn't consider it a job. She said it was an honor to work close to her Heavenly Father.

Mama was always very good at everything she did. Being a farmer at heart, she had a super green thumb. Anything she touched grew into something beautiful. She loved her roses and her geraniums. She grew them all over the house. There is a very funny story about her geraniums. She and I moved to Santa Barbara in 1964 for a few years. She wanted so badly to take her special geraniums with her so she went to the board of health and got a special permit to carry live plants over the California border. Lo and behold when we got to Santa Barbara geraniums were growing wild everywhere. We laughed about that for years and I still do every time I see a geranium. And yes, I grow geraniums.

Mama could yodel like a real cowboy. When the grandkids came along they were always asking, ''Gramma yodel for us. Gramma, gramma please yodel for us." And she would. She was great. Mama was the Jitter Bug queen at the Terrace and the Rainbow dance clubs. She used to go every Tuesday night and dance. She loved to dance and she was so good. What a dance queen she was.

We have so many good memories of our mother. Picnics in Millcreek Canyon, Honey candy made from scratch, the best potato salad ever, homemade pickles that were grown from her garden and the biggest sunflower we ever saw! Fudge that was to die for and pumpkin pies that could not be beat by the best baker. She always told the kids, "If you are going to do something, do it well/' That was the motto she lived by.

Mama was born January 22,1924 to Robert and Caroline Redford. She was the 13th of 13 children. Mama is the last of her brothers and sisters to meet our Father in Heaven. What a welcoming party that must have been.

She is out of pain now and once again with her brothers, sisters, mother, father and her beloved dog Kandy. Thank you, Jill Porter for giving mama her life companion.

We would like to thank Cameron, mama's CNA worker. He came every night to help mama. He is a kind and gentle soul. Also, I would like to thank my wonderful granddaughters, Ashlee Nieto and Brianna Galicia who are CNA workers as well. They helped with mama so much. And I cannot leave out my sweet granddaughter Jacoya Clark. Even before granny got sick Jacoya came over almost every day to see if Granny needed anything. They would 'hang* together, watch movies and eat 'cardboard' pizza or grilled chicken sandwiches. Thank you, Jacoya.

We would like to give a very heartfelt "Thank you" to Janae Smith. God knew we needed someone special to take care of mama in her last few months of her life so he sent us Janae. She came every day to take care of mama and she became one of my daughters and part of our family. Our family will be in her debt forever. Thank you, Janae. We love you. You truly are a special spirit.
