He joined the Air Force and was stationed in several different bases, the last being at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, Missouri. While stationed at Whiteman, he met and soon thereafter married Joyce L Johnson of LaMonte, Missouri.
They moved to the Kansas City area where they still reside. They have four children, Steven, Bruce, Nathan and Vicki.
Jerry as he was known to many, was active in Boy Scout Troop 707 where he held many different positions which included Treasurer, Assistant Scoutmaster and Committeeman. He was also an Honorary Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
Upon moving to Kearney, Missouri he joined the Tryst Falls Baptist church where he served as a Deacon and Treasurer and Sunday School Teacher.
He worked in data processing until he retired from Paxton Lumber in 2004. He had many different hobbies; however his main love was fishing and hunting.
He leaves behind his wife Joyce Traxler, son Steven Traxler of Dallas, Texas, Bruce Traxler of Kearney, Missouri, Nathan Traxler and his wife Debbie Traxler of Kansas City and Vicki Traxler of Platte Woods, Missouri, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Surviving brothers and sisters are Marvin Traxler, Jack Traxler, John Traxler, Judith Bayer and Penny Mervis, along with many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Services will be Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 2pm at White Chapel Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Burial to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
