SHREVEPORT, LA - A memorial service for Leslie F. Ivey will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, January 8, 2011 in the sanctuary of Broadmoor Baptist Church, 4110 Youree Drive, Shreveport, LA with Dr. John Greene officiating. Visitation with the family will be at the church from 12 noon until the service begins.

Les was a CPA who had his private practice located for many years in Natchitoches, Louisiana while servicing clients in Natchitoches as well as in many of the surrounding areas. After graduating from LSU Baton Rouge in 1966 Les sat for and passed the CPA exam the first time he took it in November 1967. He received his CPA Certificate in 1968 and was a member of the Louisiana Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants until the time of his death.

Les became a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church upon moving to Shreveport in July 2010. He was an ordained deacon who served his Lord faithfully for many years in the churches he attended. Whether he was driving a church bus picking up children for Bible Study on Sundays, serving as church treasurer, serving on multiple committees or teaching a Bible Study Class he did so with a great deal of compassion and love.

He was preceded in death by his parents E.J. and Idell "Tee" Ivey. He is survived by his wife, Penny Lee Ivey; one son, Jason Ivey; two daughters, Teri Gehring (Scott) and Christi Pickett (Danny); his grandchildren, Scott (Amanda), Jacob, James, Chloe, April, Dakota (Ravin), Cheyenne, Gus and Skylar; brothers Paul Ivey and Bruce Ivey (Linda); sisters, Mary Shilling, Sally Johnston, and Annette Lipinski (John), his nieces and nephews and their families as well as a large extened family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Les is also survived by his best friend for more than 43 years Finley Hilliard (Cookie) and their family and a special "adopted" daughter Mallie Anderson.

Les's wish was to be cremated and in lieu of flowers his desire was that memorial contributions be made to the Lithuanian Missions at Broadmoor Baptist Church, 4110 Youree Drive, Shreveport, LA 71105 or to the Fulani Missions at Harmony Hill Baptist Church, 2708 South Chestnut, Lufkin, TX 75901.
