Mrs. L. Murray Ray (Mary Estella), 97 of 601 Lincolnway died this morning at Whispering Pines Home for Senior Citizens.
Born Dec.26,1875 in Morgan Township, she was a daughter of Sylvester and Maria (Hansford) Lewis. On June 24, 1903 she married to L. Murray Ray, who preceded her in death in 1956.
Surviving are two sons, Donald, Alhambra, Calif. and Lewis, Pemaquid Beach, Me.: six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She lived in Ontario, Canada until 1937, when she returned to this area. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Mary Crosby Circle of the church, and a retired member of the Golden Years Club and Valparaiso Women's and magazine Clubs. She also helped start the Presbyterian Church Women's Resale Shop, and was second president of Church Women United, Inc.. which was active in the founding of Whispering Pines. She was also a member of the County Historical Society.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bartholomew Funeral Home. The Rev. Darrell Parker, First Presbyterian Church, will officiate, with burial at Maplewood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 pm.m Tuesday.
