Kathryn L. "Katie" Brown, 49, a lifetime resident of Hinkley, died in Barstow on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000. Born in Barstow on Nov. 15, 1951, Brown was office manager for Culligan for 20 years and was a member of the American Business Women's Association. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Brown of Hinkley; a son, Jerry Alexander of Huntington Beach; brother and sister-in-law Donald and Cathy Mitchell Jr. of Barstow, brother William Mitchell of San Diego and brother Roy Smith of E. Merideth, N.Y.; sisters Leslie Mitchell of Barstow and Becky Smith and Ellie Smith, both of E. Meridith, N.Y.; her mother, Barbara Mitchell of Barstow; her father, Roy Smith of E. Meridith, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mead Mortuary Chapel, 36930 Irwin Road, Barstow. Graveside services will be held at noon Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000 at Mountain View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Road, Barstow.
