He was the son of Gerald and Sally Jacob Karstaedt. Dave was a 1990 graduate of Kiel High School. On June 15, 1996, he married Carrie Jochimsen at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel. He currently was the owner of Karstaedt Insulation and Creative Closet Concepts in Kiel. Dave was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel, Midshore Home Builders Association, Fond du Lac and Dodge Counties Homebuilders Association-Energy Star. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and children camping, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife: Carrie; two children: Caitlyn "Squirrel" and Cameron "Little Man," both at home; his parents: Gerald and Sally Karstaedt, School Hill; two brothers: Kevin (Ann) Karstaedt, Valders; and Corey Karstaedt, School Hill; father and mother-in-law: Howie and Linda Jochimsen, Kiel; sister-in-law: Jenny Jochimsen and her children: Dade, Kyla and his godson, Kaiden. He is further survived by his niece: Morgan, and numerous aunts and uncles, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his brother-in-law: Keith "Spank" Jochimsen. David died in an automobile accident along with his brother-in-law Keith Jochimsen.
