GAR Vet. Co.F, 47th Regt. PA. Died age 80y6m23d. H/o- Elizabeth Shireman (1817-1872).
Peter Shireman, who resided with his son, Benjamin Shireman, at Rittersville, died suddenly at his home at 7 o'clock yesterday morning. He had suffered some time with dropsy, but his death was unexpected. He was walking in the yard with his granddaughter, when he suddenly fell over and was dead. Coroner Yost was notified and he deputized Alderman Fry to hold an inquest. A jury, consisting of John H. Sykes, Alfred T. Bernhard, Harry Morrell, Frank Walter, Samuel Henn, and Cornelius Acker, was empaneled and a verdict was rendered that death was due to natural causes. Deceased was 80 years of age and was for many years engaged in farming. He leaves two children, Benjamin Shireman, of Rittersville, and Mrs. Levi Spengler, of Upper Hanover.
