Sister Joseph Philip Schadeberg, 87, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity died Friday Sept. 21, 1990. Born Viola Mary Schadeberg on March 30, 1903 at Clarks Mills, she was the daughter of the late William and Anastasia Klein Schadeberg. She entered the convent in 1921 and professed her vows in 1924. Sister Joseph served the community as a homemaker at Rice Lake, Kewaunee, Appleton, Waukesha, Manitowoc, Wisconsin; Iron Mountain, Petoskey, Ironwood, Michigan; West Point, Nebraska; Yuma and Komatke, Arizona. Since her retirement from active ministry in 1974 she has been residing at the Motherhouse.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Mrs. Rosemary Karman, Denmark, Mrs. Annette Kahl, St. Petersburg, Fla. and Mrs. Flora Ann (Eugene) Nowak, Manitowoc; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Eugene Schadeberg, Manitowoc, Kenneth Schadeberg, King, Wisconsin, Harold and Marcella Schadeberg, Manitowoc.
Funeral services were Saturday at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Robert B. Reppen O.Praem.
