Relect of Henry G. Loper

Mrs. Julia F. Loper died at her home on Emmet street last Saturday morning after an illness of several weeks. Brief funeral services were held at the house on Sunday afternoon conducted by her pastor, Rev. L. B. Lynn, after which the body was taken to the old family home in Charleston, S.C., where it found sepluchre in beautiful Magnolia Cemetery.
The death of Mrs. Loper causes a profound sorrow in this city. She was a woman ripe in years when she came to make Palatka her home in 1888. Since that time her life here has been as a benediction upon all so fortunate as to come within the circle of her acquaintanceship. Her charity was proverbial and her sympathies broadly responsive to calls for help. She was a devoted Christian woman and a faithful communicant of the Presbyterian church. The essence of her religion was to love God with her whole heart and her neighbor as herself, and this was exemplified throughout a long and useful life.
Mrs. Loper was the third child of David Frink of New London, Conn., where she was born February 3rd, 1816, making her 83 years, 2 months and 13 days old at the time of death. She came to the Southland in childhood, and was married to Henry G. Loper of Charleston, S.C. (long since deceased), September 9th, 1847. No children survive of this union, but there are many grandchildren, among whom are Mrs. Mary A. Patterson of Walterboro, S.C., Miss Anita A. Bailey and G. Loper Bailey of Palatka.
Mrs. Jenkins and Miss Bailey accompanied the remains to Charleston. (Palatka News Obituary dtd Friday, 22 Apr 1904.)
