Wife of John Biery and Daughter of Henry Shaner, Sr. (1757 - 1832) and Mary Magdalene Starner (1778 - 1864).

Ester died of cancer. Ester's death is recorded in Venango Co. Death Records with the date of 11 Jul 1897 in Venango Co. However, Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery Records [Lamartine (Clarion County), PA] sent by Peg Kahle of Emlenton, PA gives dates of "17 Oct 1897." Information from History of Venango Co. 1890 on page 1118.

This family of Shaners is kin to the Shaners who immigrated from Ehrstädt, Germany [Note: The original family name was spelled Schöerner or Shöener (with umlauts over the lowercase letter "o") which was later changed to the "Americanized" spelling of "Shaner"] settled in Westmoreland Co., PA Between 1793 & 1800.

This Clarion Co. Shaner family was founded by the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution (SAR & DAR) War Veteran, Henry Shaner, Sr. (1757 - 1832) and his Wife Mary Magdalene Starner (1778 - 1864). Henry, Sr. was 21 years older than his Wife Mary Magdalene.

Following Henry, Sr.'s death at Zionsville, Lehigh Co., PA in 1832 (he was buried at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery), Mary Magdalene (born Starner) Shaner accompanied her children to live in Lamartine, Clarion Co., PA, where she died in 1864 and is buried in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery there.

Most of the 8 Shaner Children born to Henry Shaner, Sr. and Mary Magdalene (born Starner) Shaner, including our beloved Ester, are also buried at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery.

According to Shaner Family Records, Ester had Three (3) Children: Son Jerry (~1842 - ?); Daughter Mary (~1848 - ?); and Son Alfred (~1855 - ?).
