PFC Marchiando was killed in action near Ehingen, Germany. He served with the 324th Infantry Regiment, 44th Division and was the recipient of the Purple Heart.
The son of Mr. And Mrs. Albert Marchiando of Quincy Hill, had been in service three years at the time of his death, serving overseas since September,1944, when he went to England. After a few days he went to France, where he was wounded on December 8.
He was born and raised in Collinsville, and after attending Webster School, was employed at the Sugar Loaf Mine.
Besides his parents, he was survived by two brothers, Sgt. Charles Marchiando, who served in the Philippines, and Pvt. Joe Marchiando who served in the East Indies.
