Paul Klebnikov was an American journalist and historian, who specialised in Russian History since the Revolution. Worked for Forbes Magazine for over 10 years and later became the Chief Editor for Forbes Russian Edition.
Klebnikov was born in New York of Russian parents the family had a strong interest in Russian Politics and Military History.
Klebnikov was educated at University of California, Berkeley with a BA in Political Science.
He later gained a PhD at The London School of Economics.
After gaining a Doctorate Paul married Helen Train the daughter of a Wall Street Banker, they later had three children.
Klebnikov joined Forbes and specialised in investigative journalism of Post Soviet Business Dealings and corruption taking place on vast scale.
He once stated in Forbes Magazine that Boris Berezovsky could show the American Mafia crime families...a thing or two.
Later in an edition of Forbes Russian edition, Klebnikov published a list of the top 100 most wealthy people in Russia, also giving an estimated account of their wealth.
It is widely believed this was the information which brought about his murder.
On the 9th July 2004 while leaving the Forbes Office in Moscow, Klebnikov was shot four times from a moving car.
To date no one has ever been charged with his murder. George W. Bush President of The United States did ask the Russian Premier Vladimir Putin for action in this matter, with no result to date.
