Tommy Dean Evans, 80 year-old of Quinlan, went home to be with the Lord on December 3, 2013. Funeral services at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel in Greenville with Minister Jim Barnett officiating.

Born January 8, 1933 in Matador, Texas, Tommy was the son of Carol and Dorthy (Stafford) Evans. He graduated from Bland High School in 1951 where he was very active in sports. He later joined the United States Army and served in the Korean War. After serving in the Army, he met the love of his life Mary Ann Chambers, and they were married May 18, 1957 in Durant, Oklahoma. Together they raised two boys Phillip and Jerry. Tommy was a carpenter and a jack-of-all-trades. He loved playing golf and being around his family and friends. He loved attending the Bland class reunions and always kept in touch with his classmates. Most of all, he loved to cook for large groups of people. He was known for his signature dish of chicken and dumplings.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ann; son Jerry Morgan and wife Elizabeth; granddaughters Christa Lormand and husband David, April Wright and husband Shayne, Holly Morgan, Mindy Saxxon and husband Jesse, Brittany Merritt and husband, Billie; eight great-grandchildren; sister Dorthy Marshall; sister-in-law Rose Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Phillip Dale Morgan, brothers Billy Joe Evans, Marion Evans and his wife Billie, Carol Evans, Jr. and wife Mary, and sister Irene Lyons.

Pallbearers will be Teddy Manning, Marty Manning, Bill Evans, Bobby Taylor, Randy Taylor, and Jeb Evans.
