Mrs. Elizabeth Moffat, 89, widow of Peter Moffat, former plaster contractor of this city, died Monday at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Woodbury in Chicago. Funeral and interment was made in a Chicago cemetery.
Mrs. Moffat had been a resident of Chicago for the last fifty years. Prior to her removal to that city., she was active in the Third Presbyterian Church. Her husband helped to build the old post office. While residents here, Mr. and Mrs. Moffat lived in a house which at one time was the residence of the custodian of Oak Ridge Cemetery. She often spoke of the night when thieves attempted to steal the body of Abraham Lincoln.
Surviving are four sons, all of Chicago; one daughter, Mrs. Woodbury; and a number of nieces. Miss Olive Maisenbacher. 1137 North Fourth Sreet, grandchild, is now visiting at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Woodbury.
