It has been said that the name Miller came from William Miller a popular preacher of that day and especiallly in the "1844 movement." Their mother (Elizabeth) took the children out to a hill and spent the night in 1844 waiting for the Lord to come.
Moved at age 9 to Stephenson Co, landing at Galena after coming up the Mississippi in a canal boat during a big flood.
He was a Mason.
Held several titles in public office: town trustee, commisioner of highways, school director and police magistrate, Town Marshall etc.. (History of Stephenson County revised: 1910). Held a an elective position until he was to old to serve.
Two brothers married two sisters. Charles Miller Macomber married Terrisa Anne Hancock & Benoni Dolf Macomber married Margaret Melissah Hancock.
Married to Terissa Anna Hancock November 18, 1849 in Winslow Stephenson Co., Illinois.
