Mr. Robert Clay Baines age 78 of Smithville passed away Tuesday morning May 13, 2014 at NHC Healthcare. He was born July 17, 1935 to his parents, the late Lindsey and Jessie Mai Bullard Baines. Robert was a member of New Life United Pentecostal Church, retired from Better Built and served in the National Guard for 6 years. He is survived by his Wife of 58 years, Dorothy Hutchens Baines of Smithville; 3 Sons, Gary Baines and Friend, Lisa Coffee; Mike (Pam) Baines and Ronald (Gail) Baines all of Smithville; 4 Grandchildren, Jason (Stacey) Baines of Cookeville; Caleb Baines and Fiance, Carrie Herrin of Smithville; Michael White and Fiance, Karla Gaddie and Emily and Josh Linder all of Norfolk, VA; 4 Great-Grandchildren, Macey and Matthew Baines both of Cookeville, Katie Linder and Wesley White both of Norfolk, VA; 1 Brother, Harold (Lou) Baines of Murfreesboro; Several Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law. Funeral services will be conducted 3:PM Thursday, May 15, 2014 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Dwayne Cornelius and Bro. Keith Huling officiating and interment to follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday 3:PM until 8:PM and Thursday 10:AM until the time of the service at 3:PM. In addition to flowers, the family ask that donations be given to New Life United Pentecostal Church.
