HARTSVILLE - Services for Hortense Sandifer Dickinson, 94, will be held at 11 a.m. today, April 22, 2003, at Wesley United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Surrett will officiate with burial in Magnolia Cemetery, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 145 East College Avenue, Hartsville, SC 29550 or to the charity of one's choice.

Mrs. Dickinson, widow of George M. Dickinson, died Sunday, April 20, 2003. Born in Bamburg, she was a daughter of the late Simeon Wesley and Mattie Kinard Sandifer. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, the Alter Guild, Amity, and Rosa Lee Circle. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and taught at Augusta Circle Elementary School, Greenville, and also many years at Thornwell Elementary School, Hartsville. She was a graduate of Winthrop College. She was a former member of Pine and Lake Garden Club, Thursday Study Club, DAR and UDC.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, George Moye and Lynn Dickinson of Fort Mill; daughter and son-in-law, Martha Moye and Chandler Peel; grandchildren, Wesley Peel, Jonathan Peel, Rebecca Dickinson, Thomas Dickinson; great-grandchildren, Chandler Peel II, Caroline Peel. She was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Davis.
