Mrs. Ditmas Jewell.
Mrs. Joanna H. Voorhees, wife of Ditmas Jewell and daughter of John A. Voorhees, died at her home, 18 Williams place, Twenty-sixth Ward, Monday. Her husband was a supervisor of the old town of New Lots, is president of the Twenty-sixth Ward Bank, and senior elder of the East New York Reformed Church. She was married to Mr. Jewell in early life and the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary May 24, 1899. She was a woman universally beloved in the community where she lived for her personal character and her benevolences, which, though unostentatious, were generous. She is survived by her husband, a son, John V. Jewell, and a daughter who is the widow of Charles E. North. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Daniel Doxey of Brooklyn and Mrs. John A. Hegeman of Flatlands, and two brothers, Abram of Flatlands and William of Gravesend.
