Gregory William Assell age 28 of Centerville, Iowa, died Saturday, October 16, 2010 at his home in Centerville, Iowa. He was born on February 28, 1982 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the son of William "Bill" and Carla(Sevcik)Assell. He graduated from Centerville High School in 2000 and attended Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa and Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
On November 4, 2007 he was united in marriage to Robyn Collett in Centerville, Iowa. He worked for Dahl's Food Store in Des Moines, Iowa and Millard's Refrigeration in Ottumwa, Iowa and Allclear in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and also at the Manhatten Steak House and Hy-Vee in Centerville, Iowa.
Greg is preceded in death by: his father, Bill Assell on June 21, 2003; Paternal Grandparents, Herman and Catherine Assell; Maternal Grandfather, Joe Sevcik.
He is survived by: his wife, Robyn Assell and son, Mason Collett and a daughter, Ashlynn Assell all of Centerville, Iowa; mother, Carla Assell of Centerville, Iowa; brother, Chris Assell of Cedar Falls, Iowa; maternal grandmother, Vera Sevcik of Tama, Iowa; birth mother; Kim Jackson of Rifle, Colorado; sisters, Kendra LaRusso and Ronni Jackson both of Rifle, Colorado; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 22, 2010 at 11am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. William Smalley and Fr. Joe Miller, CPPS officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, October 22, 2010 from 9am until time of service. A memorial has been established to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or to the family.
