Resident of Livermore

After an incredible year of living with brain cancer, Valerie Andriano passed away on Saturday, the 25th of October 2014, in Houston, Texas. Valerie moved to Houston from Livermore, California in March of this year to share her life and her time with family there.

Valerie was a devout Catholic and her strong faith touched her entire family, as well as her friends. She lived her faith, and always kept her priorities straight. Family was core to Valerie’s world, and she was at the heart of her family. Others always came first to Valerie. An overriding struggle she had during her illness was her perceived inability to help others. Little did she know she was doing just that on a daily basis!

Although she had no children of her own, she was an incredible aunt to her eight nieces and nephews who all adore her. She shared laughs, great experiences, and life lessons with them all. While she loved her nieces and nephews equally (and had to remind them she had no favorites!), she was able to enjoy her youngest nephew, Gregory, in a very special way as he lived so close by in Livermore. It meant the world to her to enjoy such a close and loving relationship with her younger brother, Gregg, and his family. Growing up, they were often thought to be twins! Valerie was able to travel to a variety of places and enjoyed a number of vacations to Southeast Asia. She cruised with friends and regularly visited her brother, Fred, and his family in Indiana and her sister, Kathy, and her family in Texas.

Valerie enjoyed a long-term relationship with her dear friend Jim. She was a part of his family, and he was part of Valerie’s, for many years and enjoyed numerous holidays, bbqs, trips to Grass Valley, and other special times with Jim and his family.

Valerie was born in Flagstaff, Arizona on the 2nd of September 1961, and spent a number of years in Arizona with her parents, two brothers and sister and enjoyed an extended large family who lived nearby. Valerie graduated from high school in Santa Maria, California and then graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority where she made many life-long friends. She worked in the financial forms business in the Livermore area for the last 20 or so years. She developed some incredible friendships through work – wonderful people who she travelled with, dined with and just enjoyed times with.

Valerie will be dearly missed by her family and friends, but will join her parents Fred and Dolly Andriano in heaven. Her father, Fred Andriano, died on the 23rd of August 2010, and her mother, Dolly Andriano, died on the 21st of October 1990. Her spirit and love will live on with us all. In addition to a very close extended family, Valerie is survived by her brother, Fred Andriano and wife, Stacia; sister, Kathy Marietta and husband, Bruce Ehni; brother, Gregg Andriano and wife, Lisa; nieces and nephews, Michael, Amy, Matthew, Austin, and Andrew Marietta; Gregory, Elizabeth, Janelle, and Gregory Andriano, and Molly Ehni; dear friend and companion, Jim Revels; and step-mother, Nelly Andriano.

The funeral Mass will commence at eleven-thirty o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 1st of November, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 458 Maple Street in Livermore, California. Prior to the Mass, friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from ten-thirty o’clock in the morning until eleven o’clock when recitation of the Holy Rosary will commence.

Following the Mass, burial will take place at one o’clock in the afternoon at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette, California.

A reception with the family celebrating the life of Valerie will begin at three o’clock in the afternoon at The Purple Orchid Wine Country Resort, 4549 Cross Road in Livermore, California.

For those desiring, in lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in memory of Valerie can be directed to Mission Bay Works, 50 Las Colinas Ln., San Jose, CA 95119
