Adam Meade, one of the old timers of Eminence and vicinity died at his home south of Eminence last Wednesday evening. His death was very sudden, and was caused by a heart attack. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon in the Assembly of God Church at Eminence by Rev. E.E. Hembree, pastor. Burial was in the Summers cemetery near Ink. Adam Meade was born May 5, 1875, in Shannon County, and departed this life September 10, 1947, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 5 days. He was united with the Baptist Church in early life under his father's teaching. He was united in marriage to Margaret LeGrand April 13, 1897, and to this union thirteen children were born, five of whom preceded him in death. He leaves eight daughters; Mrs. J.B. Lawson, Mrs. C.L. Thomas, Mrs. F.E. Copeland, Mrs. Herbert Crowder, Mrs. Bernie Tucker, Mrs. Ruby Voyles, Doris Meade, and Mrs. Walter Wells; one brother, H.C. Meade, one sister, Mrs. Fred Atchison. His wife preceded him in death, January 25, 1941. He was united in marriage to Iva Smith, April 22, 1943. He leaves his wife and six step-children, Carlos, Raymond and Dick Smith, Annie Russell, Mabel Atkins, and Jewell Means, besides a host of grandchildren, a great-grandchild and a number of relatives and friends.
