PALMER BRYANT MITCHELL passed away at his home in Elkton, Florida on Monday, March 31, 2008 following an extended illness.
A native of Charlottesville, VA, he had lived in Florida for the past 12 years coming from Virginia. He was a member of Bostwick Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Mitchell was a retired construction Consultant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgie Alvie Mitchell and William Bryant Mitchell; two brothers, William Lewis Mitchell and James Randall Mitchell and one daughter, Norma Jean Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Mitchell; four children, Carol Ann Worley of Marshall, VA, Samuel Mitchell of Fredericksburg, VA, Kellan Wayne Mitchell of Arrington, VA and Tina Wiggins of Leesburg, VA; one step-daughter, Sherri Fantaci; one step-son, Timothy Sutherland; one sister, Thelma Melton; one brother, Jimmy Mitchell; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 14 nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 P.M. Friday, April 4, 2008 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas where funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 5, 2008 with Brother David Eddins officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Haymarket, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Bostwick Baptist Church, P.O. Box 64, Bostwick, Florida 32007 in memory of Palmer B. Mitchell.
