George Lage, age 82, a resident of Gary, passed away April 18, 1990 at the Canby Community Hospital in Canby, MN. George was born on November 25, 1909, at Magnolia, MN, a son of John and Louise (Sueverkrupp) Lage. He moved with his parents to a farm near Gary in 1920 and received his elementary education at a rural school district. He was united in marriage to Edna Hemmingson on January 11,1936 at Gary. After their marriage they farmed near Gary until 1965 when they moved to Brookings where he was employed as a custodian at SDSU. He retired in 1977and moved back to Gary where he has made his home until the time of his death.
He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gary and he belonged to the Gate City Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his wife, Edna of Gary; one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Sharon) Hyde of Sioux Falls; two sons, Ronald of Coon Rapids and James of Canby, MN; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are a bother, Carl of Anoka, MN and a sister Mrs. Cliff (Peggy) King of Watertown. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services were held on April 20, 1990 at 1:30 pm in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gary with Pastor Bruce Mueller officiating.
