Sister Tersita taught for nineteen years in elementary and secondary schools in Wisconsin,Michigan,Ohio and Nebraska: twenty-nine years in college as a professor of biology at Holy Family College, Manitowoc,Wisconsin; one year as a guest professor of biology at Chaminade College, Honolulu, Hawaii. She received numerous awards for her work as biologist and conservationst.
For years Sister was interested in the history of Manitowoc County and of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity,an interest which resulted in creating a movie and slide presentations to foster vocations. Beginning in 1971,her retirement year, she spent her time researching and writing articles on the county which were
published in the Manitowoc County Historical Society Newsletter and on the Congregation which have been published in the Sampling, a quarterly of the Sisters.
She is the author of the book Refining His Silver, Pioneer Days of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity 1866-1911,published in 1979.

Sister Teresita Kittell, 97, of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, died Monday evening, June 18, 1990 at the Convent. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday at Holy Family Convent chapel. Presiding the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Julian C. Resch, O.Praem. Burial at Holy Family Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born November 10, 1892 in West DePere, Wisconsin, daughter of the late William O. and Elizabeth Jacobs Kittell. The former Mildred Kittell entered the Convent in 1918 and professed her vows in 1920. Sister Teresita earned her B.A., M.S. and her Ph. D from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Sister taught elementary and high schools in Brown County; Iron Wood, Michigan; New Franklin, Wisconsin; Delaware, Ohio, West Point, Nebraska; Sacred Heart, Manitowoc and at Holy Family College, Manitowoc for 31 years. She was also Guest Professor of Biology at Chaminage College, Honolulu, Hawaii for one year. After her retirement from active ministry she resided at San Damino Convent in Slinger, Wisconsin and at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. Friends may call at Holy Family Convent Chapel, 4 pm to 8 pm this Tuesday. Prayer Service will be held at 7 pm at the chapel. Pfeffer Funeral Home, assisting with arrangements.
