Arthur H. "Doc" Smith, 89, son of Ike and Maude Smith, was born Dec. 28, 1910, near Summersville. He died Dec. 17, 2000, at Mountain View Health Care in Mountain View.
He lived near Montier most of his life, where he was a farmer and had a peach farm. He became a resident at Mountain View Health Care in 1991 and enjoyed making garden at the nursing home each year includ-ing this summer.
Mr. Smith attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Summersville for several years and the Living Faith Church while he lived at Festus.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jess Smith, Aaron Smith and Elvis Smith; two half brothers, Ed Fox and Weaver Fox; and one half sister, Ellen Fox.
Surviving are two brothers, Robert F. Smith and John H. Smith of Summersville.
Services were Dec. 20 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel in Summersville with the Rev. Emmett Bradford officiating. Burial was in the Montier Cemetery near Mountain View.
