Funeral services for Mrs. Fred R. Carpenter, wife of the personal director of the former Dallas branch and district offices of the Veterans Administration, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sparkman-Brand Chapel, 2115 Ross.
The former Ethel Ford, a native of Lodi, Marion County, died Monday in a Kerrville hospital after a brief illness.
She and her husband lived in Dallas, at 4315 Bluffview, 10 years before the district VA office was closed and moved to Denver, Colo. They moved to Denver in November, 1954.
He took a job at the Kerrville Veterans Hospital last November to get back to Texas.
In Dallas, Mrs. Carpenter was active in the work of Lovers Lane Methodist Church and its chapter of the Women's Society of Christian Service. She was also active in the Parent-Teacher Association of Sudie Williams School, where her daughter, Suzanne, now 11, attended classes.
Mrs. Carpenter grew up in Marshall, attending the public schools and a East Texas Baptist College there.
Survivors include her husband; daughter; a brother, William S. Ford of Lodi, and two sisters, Mrs. Birdie Hicks of Lodi and Mrs. J. C. Crain of Marshall.
Her Dallas pastor, the Rev. Tom Shipp, will officiate at Thursday's services.
Entombment will be in Hillcrest Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Andy Atkinson, Lorin Brintnall, Joe Bybee, John Campbell, Odric Combs, Ralph Dickson, J. D. Mahoney and J. R. Thompson.
Memorial services for Mrs. Carpenter were held Tuesday evening in Kerrville.
