Virginia Judith Schoonover Hornick, 85, a former resident of Chenoweth Creek Road and a resident of the Elkins Manor, passed away at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown.
She was born Oct. 1, 1918, at Elkins, a daughter of the late William and Minni Triplett Schoonover. She was married to James B. Hornick, who preceded her in death in 1999.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Jones of Richwood, Eileen Wilmoth of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Sandra Schubert of Williamsburg, Va.; four sons, Richard Hornick of Kingman, Ariz., James Hornick of Indianapolis, Ind., Jerry Hornick of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ron Hornick of Elkins; three sisters, Grace Summerfield, Olive Workman and Ella Doerr, all of Elkins; and one brother, Glen Schoonover of Elkins.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Vicki, Sonja and Timothy Jones, Kelli, Jennifer and Eric Wilmoth, Kerry, Matthew and Allen Hornick, and Angel, Adam, Ashleigh and Kory Hornick; and several great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hornick was retired from G.C. Murphy's, where she worked as a cook in the snack bar. She was a long-time member of The First Church of Christ of Elkins.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the funeral home chapel with Evangelist Gary L. Kendall Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Elkins Memorial Gardens. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Virginia Judith Schoonover Hornick.
