Virginia Mae Dustin, 88, of North Platte, NE died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.
Virginia was born July 21, 1923, to Guy Edgar and Blanche Della Harold Bothel at Sedgwick, CO. She grew up in Julesburg, CO and graduated from Julesburg High School in 1941. On April 18, 1941, Virginia married Lloyd Ellis Dustin in Yuma, AZ. They lived in San Diego, CA before moving to Julesburg. While Lloyd was in the U.S. Navy, Virginia made her home in Julesburg. After Lloyd's discharge they continued living in Julesburg until 1948 when they moved to North Platte. Virginia went to work for W.T. Grant Company and later went to business school. She then went to work for Frank's Farm Equipment Company and retired from there in 1972. Virginia was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Order of Eastern Star Signet Chapter #55 where she served as Worthy Matron in 1972. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #163, Lake Maloney Golf Association, Union Pacific Old Timers and R.S.V.P. She enjoyed golfing, bowling and square dancing. Survivors include her daughter, Donna Marie (Marion) Dike, of Anselmo, NE; a son, Larry James Dustin, of Lewisville, NC; her daughter-in-law, Christine Dustin of Seoul, Korea; a sister, Lois Chaney, of Wheatridge, CO; seven grandchildren, Kathleen Taylor, Christine Dustin, Steve and wife, Amy Dike, Jeffrey Dike, Scott Dustin, Amy Dustin and Mae Jean Dustin; 12 great-grandchildren, Amber Griffor, Trey Griffor, Alijah Dustin, Rebekah Ferguson, Matthew Dustin, Colin Dike, Megan Dike, Jaden Dike, Scott Dike, Madux Dike, Desteny Peck and Dustin Taylor; many nieces, nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; a son, Michael Ellis 'Mick' Dustin; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Dustin; her parents, Guy and Blanche Bothel; four sisters, Pauline Caton, Agnes Sandstedt, Eunice Liponovich and Letha Ladd; and her brother, Harland Guy Bothel. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2012, at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore with Pastor Ryan Alexander officiating and Eastern Star Rites. Burial will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery south of Maxwell. Visitation is Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore. Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
