Carly Genae Gray, 22 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2008 at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Carly was born August 17, 1985, the youngest of three children of Ronnie D. and Kathrine S. (Parsons) Gray. She was baptized and confirmed at the Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington. She received her primary education at Amherst and Elm Creek, Nebraska. Carly then relocated to Lexington, where she graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 2003. She served as the Definitely Abled Representative on the Board of Lyon (Lutheran Youth of Nebraska.) Carly was involved with Muscular Dystrophy Camps for several years throughout Nebraska. She was blessed to be chosen by the Make A Wish Foundation during ninth grade. Carly's wish was to have a computer, scanner, printer and software to assist her with her education.
She loved music, spending time on the computer, and most of all spending time with her family, especially camping. Her focus was always to involve others in her life. Even though, Carly was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy when she was young, she never wanted pity from others and always considered herself as "capable" not handi-capped. Carly's care and concern involved all of God's creation, she had a special place in her heart for animals.
Following her education, Carly met the love of her life and her soul mate, Brad Roggie. They lived in Lexington for a few years, until moving to Holdrege in 2005. The couple were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Taylissa born May 22, 2007.
She leaves to mourn her passing her soul mate, Brad Roggie and their daughter, Taylissa of Holdrege; father, Ronnie Gray and his wife, Susan of Lexington; mother, Kathy Goos and her husband, Gary of Holdrege; grandmother, Mary Gray of Lexington; two brothers: Jeremy Gray and his fiancÚ, Ronny Anne of Gibbon, Nebraska and Jerrod Gray and his wife, Joy of Elm Creek; three step-sisters: Michele Flynn and her husband, Jeff of Lexington, Gina Holbrook and her husband, Brad of Kearney, Nebraska, Angie Smit and her husband, Greg of Brandon, Wisconsin; best friend, Emily Wagner of Kearney; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Harold Gray, Wayne and Georgia Bartlett and Melvin Parsons and step-grandfather, Albert Shepard.
