Brian S. Gilkey, 28, of Brewerton, passed away at his home on July 30. He graduated from East Syracuse-Minoa High School in 2000. Brian worked for American Steel before being injured. He was predeceased by his father, Brian P Gilkey, in 2006. Brian was an avid Buffalo Bills fan; he enjoyed fishing, hunting and archery. He is survived by two sons, Gabriel and Nathaniel, whom he adored; his mother, Jill (Cal) Rolls of Florida; two brothers, Christopher Gilkey of Florida and Craig Gilkey of East Syracuse; a sister, Kari Gilkey of Syracuse; maternal grandmother, Barbara Swortfiguer of East Syracuse; paternal grandmother, Beverly Gilkey of Syracuse; his faithful dog, Diamond; several aunts and uncles; one nephew; many cousins; and good friends who all loved him dearly. Funeral services will be Thursday at 8:15 a.m. from Delaney-Greabell-Adydan Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Matthew's Church, East Syracuse. Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 241 Kinne St., East Syracuse. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt. Contributions in Brian's memory may be made to a trust fund set up for his sons in care of his mother, Jill Rolls, 8531 White Egret Way, Lake Worth, FL 33467.
