The 1860 slave schedule shows 4 children with Docia including 2 twin girls. Thomas was born in 1865. Abraham, his siblings and mother were living together. The 1870 census shows Docia as a servant in Luther's household (Abraham's brother) without her children and only lists Lee, Caroline and Thomas with Abraham and Mary. (It can be assumed that Susan died in childhood and one of the twin girls died in childbirth.) Caroline and Lee are shown as a servant and laborer in the census.
