George W. Black Called in Death; Rites on Monday
George W. BLACK , 80, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday [March 31, 1939] at his home, 1805 Mulberry avenue, after an illness of three months with complications. Mr. Black was born Jan. 30, 1859, at Atalissa and had been a resident of Muscatine for the past 20 years.
He married Margaret Moylan at Wilton. He was a member of St. Mathias church.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Margaret Black; two daughters, Mrs. Ed Fuller, of Kewanee, Ill., and Mrs. Floyd Jones of Muscatine; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Moore of Rock Island, Ill., and three grandchildren, J. George Fuller, Arthur Black Fuller, and Sarah Ann Jones.
His parents, Arthur and Adalina (Anderson) Black, and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mathias church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. W. L. Hannon, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. The body was taken from the George M. Wittick Funer home to the home on Mulberry Avenue this afternoon. The Rosary will be recited at the home Sunday at 7:30 p.m. (Muscatine Journal, Muscatine, IA, April 1, 1939)
