Ellis R. "Bud" Bettis, 87, of Philadelphia, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at Sweetwater Hospital.
He was retired from Siler Brothers Lumber Company, after 40 years of service as a truck driver. He was a born-again child of God and loved hard preaching and bluegrass gospel music.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ethel Lance Bettis; his parents, Tom and Artie Nipper Bettis; two brothers, Alex and Everett Bettis; and one sister and brother-in-law, Lillie and Charles Richards.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Hubert and Della Bettis of Niota, Linda and Charles Mason of Sweetwater, Etta and Billy Wallace of Niota, Wayne Bettis of Philadelphia, and Doris and Mike Ingram of Sweetwater; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marie and Sis Bettis; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Loudon Funeral Home with Brother Ray Johnson and Brother Ted Halcomb officiating. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Fork Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Cedar Fork Cemetery Fund.
Loudon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
