Huntington-- Elmer (Buck) Brechner, 72, died at 3 p.m. Friday at the home of a daughter, Mrs, Irene Strodel, Huntington. The descendent had been in failing health for 2 1/2 years and seriously ill for the last 2 weeks.
He was born March 14, 1884, in Servia, the son of Samuel and Susanne (Koontz) Brechner.
Mr. Brechner, a former blacksmith at Bippus, was a member of the Old EUB Church in Servia. He was a member of the Moose Lodge at North Manchester. Mr. Brechner played in the former Bippus Band. He was employed as a custodian at the City Building until his last illness.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Thelma Whitesell, South Whitley; Mrs. Eleanor Leonhardt, Lagro; Mrs. Veva Lionhardt, Liberty Mills; and Mrs. Strodel, Huntington; two brothers, Everett, Liberty Mills and Edward, Winona Lake; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. One sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Robbins Funeral Home with the Rev. Ivan Woods officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Servia.
The family requests that friends omit sending flowers. Donations may be given to the Cancer Fund.
